About Us

OUR SCHOOL

Our prestigious 12 Week Certificate is internationally recognised and has been the first step on the culinary journey of many well-known chefs, food producers and food writers around the world. The Ballymaloe Cookery School Alumni are a wide network of people from all walks of life and all age-groups. Each year we are delighted to invite many distinguished guest chefs to participate in our school curriculum.

SUSTAINABILITY

With sustainability as one of our guiding principles, we are committed to producing as much organic produce as we can on our 100 acre organic farm. As we are a world renowned cookery school, teaching a diverse range of cuisines, we must guarantee that our students have the very best and widest range of ingredients with which to work. When we cannot source something from our list of local and national suppliers, we work with a network of carefully selected international suppliers.

ORGANIC FARM

Ballymaloe Cookery School students (whether they are participating in the 12 Week Certificate or our short courses) gain an understanding of the fundamentals of organic food production. One of our greatest assets is our organic farm, and it is this that sets us apart from other cookery schools. Our students benefit directly from the fresh daily produce of the farm, learning to cook with only the finest quality ingredients. We are fortunate to be situated in one of the most fertile parts of Ireland with an enviable climate and a maritime influence.

STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO

With an impressive student-to-teacher ratio of 6:1, we guarantee students expert tuition and close personal attention. Our Teachers come from a range of backgrounds including extensive experience in restaurant kitchens and many have travelled all over the world.

This variety ensures that each week you get something new and different as well as expert tuition.  At the end of each morning your teacher will help you to plate up and take some time to discuss with you your mornings cooking.

SHORT COURSES

At Ballymaloe Cookery School we also offer a diverse range of short courses, keeping our finger on the pulse with international trends in the food industry. These can vary from half-day to 2.5 days or even week or month long courses. We are continually shaping our calendar to meet as many needs and expectations as possible.
